Valentines Weekend

February 15, 2015

Happy Valentines Weekend! I know Valentines day was yesterday, but as it has fallen on a Saturday i've decided to embrace the Valentines spirit throughout the weekend. Whether you're single or taken, I think Valentines is the perfect occasion to treat yourself and those around you.

For Richard and I, this weekend has mainly been about spending time with each other and eating a lot of very good food. After a lovely lunch yesterday, we came home to pizza and a movie (The Notebook, obviously, because you can never have too much Gosling). Today we've just polished off an extra large Sunday dinner and are looking forward to indulging in some Chocolate and more films tonight. Healthy eating resumes tomorrow *sigh*

For Valentines day, Richard treated me to some beautiful flowers (pictured above) and this adorable cat balloon. I've named him Chester. As we are currently only renting, we unfortunately can't have pets, but at least I can have a pet balloon! I've been missing my cat Mischa a lot recently. She lives with my mum so I can visit whenever I like, but hopefully someday soon i'll be able to bring home a kitten of my own.

Relaxing bubble baths are one of my favourite ways to spend a Sunday evening, and this Unicorn horn from Lush's Valentines collection is the perfect ingredient. Not only does it look amazing, but it  smells pretty yummy too. The lavender essence also makes the whole experience that extra bit relaxing.

Have you been celebrating Valentines day? I hope you've had a lovely weekend regardless :)

January Favourites

February 08, 2015

Even though Christmas and New Year feel like a faint and distant memory, January seems to have flown by. The first month of 2015 has been a good one - it might have been cold and snowy, but my new fitness and healthy eating resolutions are going well. That's right, not only are they still actually being adhered to *insert shocked sounds here*, but they're actually going really well and i've found myself enjoying it more than I ever thought I could. Perhaps i'll go into more detail in another post soon. Anyway, sticking to the point of this post, lets delve into my January 2015 favourites...

I ran out of my Nuxe lip balm just before Christmas and luckily managed to find a little gift set with both the balm and this cream for just a few pounds more than the cost of one. From the very first use, I knew this cream was a good'un. It nourishes dry hands without leaving behind that annoying greasy film; and the smell... oh my gosh. I have on several occasions just sat and sniffed the stuff it is that good.

This is perhaps my favourite glitter polish ever - I have such a soft spot for rose gold. I basically wore this all December as it's just so festive, but I couldn't quite bring myself to give it up in January!  I'm okay with that though, after all, I did stop eating a mince pie a day and wearing my Christmas jumper in January so putting away the glitter would just be too much to give up - Life's a balance and all that!

I've actually been wearing this daily since November but apart from my 2014 favourites, I haven't really had much of a chance to talk about just how down right awesome this stuff is. A layer or two of this does it all - lengthens, curls, adds volume and separates lashes. As it's water-resistant it won't budge either, even if you decide to do a hard core work-out, there won't be a smudge or flake in sight. It is quite tricky to get hold of in the UK but it's definitely worth persisting. I picked mine up from Beauty Mart on a quick trip to London but i'm stalking the website for a backup. There is also a waterproof version that I'd happily give a whirl too as I imagine it's most likely just as dreamy.

I'm a huge fan of the Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover, but it is a rather pricey addiction. In a bid to save a few pennies I opted to give the Rimmel version a go after hearing rumours that it was similar. They were right. It might take a few seconds longer, but this stuff gets rid of eye make-up with ease and without any irritation. For under £4, I'm not scared to finish a bottle either!

You may not be surprised that i'm still wittering on about how much I love this palette. Everything about it is just so beautiful. It is marketed as limited edition but often these things have a way of reappearing permanently (i'm certainly hoping so). if you can't get your hands on this though, i'd recommend buying the individual blushes. Im currently loving the muted plum shade Mood Exposure.  Despite looking quite brown in the pan, it translates beautifully on the cheek and brightens up my increasingly pale winter complexion instantly. I'd probably be mistaken as a ghost without it.

I have an ever growing obsession with Rifle Paper - I would own their whole shop if I could. This clear phone case with a white floral pattern on the back has been on my wishlist for a while. I finally found it in stock online from a British company called Papermash (here) and ordered it immediately. Two days later (thank's to Papermash's super speedy delivery) it was on my iPhone and I don't think i'm ever going to take it off! I love how it lets the gold colour of the phone show but also adds a little something extra to make it a bit more personalised.

The Skincare Line Up

February 02, 2015

When it comes to skincare, I don't like to experiment too much. If there is something that works well with my skin, I tend to remain loyal, otherwise I can find myself in a spotty situation (get it?!). Over the past year or so i've found a few products that I know I can reply on to keep my skin in check, and even when I do decide to go wild and experiment with other products, these seem to be the ones that I always come back to.

This is by far the best cleanser i've ever used. The peachy-pink gel removes make-up and dirt with ease and leaves skin feeling smooth and refreshed. Since using this my skin has looked clearer and healthier than it did pre-Oskia. It really is a life changer. Full review here

For days when I have the occasional breakout, I like to treat my skin to a layer of this mask. It might be a little uncomfortable as its sets, but once rinsed off, my skin has never felt smoother. It really helps to banish dirt, tighten pores and hydrate any dry patches. Priced at a mere £8.99, you really can't go wrong if you looking to try something new. The quality is by far higher than the price tag.

Moisturiser is something that I like to test out more than other skincare. I have dry/combination skin so I'm always searching for that perfect balance that hydrates my skin without leaving it looking greasy. This Origins Moisturiser is the one I keep coming back to. It banishes that 'tight' feeling associated with dry skin and leaves a nice base for foundation. The smell is also pretty dreamy.

The skin around my eyes always seems dehydrated but since using a blob of this morning and night, i've seen a huge improvement. It refreshes and hydrates the delicate skin without any sign of irritation. Full review here.

A pricey yet worthwhile investment. This serum does wonders for hydrating and refining your skins texture. I use a tiny amount before moisturiser every night and it really helps to stop pesky dry patches. If i've had any blemishes, i've found this also helps to fade the scar quicker than normal.
