♡ New In : Bits and Bobs

September 30, 2013

I've actually had this candle for quite a while but as we've had such an amazing summer, I haven't really been in the candle burning kind of mood. Now that Autumn is officially here I've dug this out of storage and have been really enjoying snuggling up with a cup of tea whilst this burns in the background - so cosy!

With my Bioderma running low I thought I would test out the L'Oreal 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution as it was on offer at boots and I'd heard they were quite similar. I haven't been using this for long but so far so good. I wouldn't say it's quite as good as Bioderma at removing makeup but it's not bad either, plus it hasn't irritated my skin. If your looking for a cheaper alternative to Bioderma this would be a good one to try.

I'd mentioned in my Daily Haircare Post that I was thinking of purchasing the L'Oreal EverRiche Nourishing and Taming Shampoo and Conditioner, so when I spotted a 3 for 2 offer at boots I just couldn't resist. I've been using these for just over two weeks now and I love them. They leave my hair feeling so soft and smelling amazing!

These cute little owls are actually salt and pepper pots that I found whilst browsing a local gift shop. At the moment i'm just using them as ornaments on my shelf but perhaps i'll eventually get round to filling them with salt and pepper, we'll see!

As I don't live anywhere near a Kiko retailer I was super excited when I stumbled across one of their stores in Palma whilst on holiday. Despite a hefty session of swatching I left with only this Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in the colour 06. It was a pretty good choice though as it's been my 'go-to' eye colour for the past two weeks. It looks gorgeous swiped across the lid and blended out with a finger - It also lasts all day without smudging and hardly any fading.

What do you think of my purchases?

♡ Recently Repurchased

September 26, 2013

Sometimes you just find a product that works for you, and as much as I like experimenting with new products and releases, there are a few things that I am forever repurchasing. Recently some of my favorite staples ran out all at once (typical!), and though all of them have featured on the blog before, I thought I would re-assert their status as favorites a little bit more. L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara is pretty much my all time favorite mascara - it thickens and lengthens the lashes without clumps or smudging. I haven't been without one in my collection for almost two years now!
The Dove Nutritive Solutions leave-in-conditioning & care spray is quite a new addition to my stash, though i'm already on my second bottle of the stuff. This leaves my hair looking, feeling and smelling amazing, I can't be without it! I'm also onto my second bottle of the CND Stickey Base Coat. Since I've started using this, not only does my nail polish last longer but my nails are also in a lot better condition.
The Collection 2000 Illuminating Touch Concealer is another product that I've been using for ages. It's great for concealing and brightening dark under eye circles, and for under £5, it's pretty affordable too.

What products are you forever repurchasing?

♡ August Favorites

September 06, 2013

Yet another month has been and gone but not without a few beauty discoveries along the way. I'm actually on holiday in Majorca at the moment but I couldn't resist sharing a few of the products I've fallen in love with recently.

1. Dove Damage Solutions Intensive Repair Express Treatment Conditioner
This has been a favorite of mine for quite a while but as I've been swimming a lot more recently I have been relying on this to keep my hair nourished after subjecting it chlorine 3 times a week! Full review here.

2. Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish in New Romantic
I have a full review about the amazing formula of these polishes here, but this pale pink shade is by far my favorite. It's such a pretty and feminine colour that goes with everything - i'm obsessed!

3. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat Moisturizer
As there has been quite a few hot days in August I've been using this instead of my usual moisturizer. The matte finish is the perfect base for makeup and as it is sebo-regulating, I've found that it helps to reduce shine throughout the day. As I don't have particularly oily skin, I was slightly worried it wouldn't be moisturizing enough on dry patches though this wasn't a problem at all as despite being matte I've found it rich enough to hydrate my skin. As a French brand, unfortunately it's not widely available in the UK, though I have found it online at Escentual and it is currently on sale for £11.90 (normally £14).

4. Mac Naked Lunch Eye Shadow
This is a very old favorite of mine  (it's actually my second pot), though I've recently dusted it off and fallen back in love. It's a gorgeous shimmery champagne shade that reminds me a lot of All That Glitters by Mac, though with less of an amber hue. I've been dusting this all over the lid daily for just a hint of colour and shimmer.

5. Kiehl's Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Body Polish
I've been using this throughout August to ensure my skin is in tip-top condition for holiday. This is by far my favorite scrub - it's quite moisturizing and not too abrasive, yet leaves you with glowing and healthy skin. It also smells amazing!

6. EOS Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet
On a recent trip to London I couldn't resist picking up an EOS lipbalm from Beauty Mart - obviously I chose the pink one! I wasn't sure whether it would live up to all the hype but i'm pretty impressed. The consistency is quite smooth and moisturizing and doesn't tend to dry out my lips either. It might not be the best lip balm in the world, and it by no means surpasses by beloved Nuxe Reve De Miel lip balm, but it's a pretty decent one all the same.

What have you been loving recently?

♡ Holiday Beauty Essentials

September 02, 2013

Tomorrow morning i'll be jetting off on holiday to Majorca for 10 days with Richard. I'll probably be at the beach most days whilst consuming my own body weight in ice cream, but that's okay because it's a holiday, right?!

As well as packing the usual beauty stuff  (makeup, nail polish, face wash etc) there are also a few extra bits at bobs i'll be hauling along to accommodate for the warmer climate.

1. Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray
Despite being bare faced at the beach during the day, the evenings and nights in Majorca when I am wearing some makeup tend to be pretty warm, so a few spritzes of this keeps my base in place and helps reduce shine.

2. Nars Laguna Bronzer
As i'm usually quite pale, I never really bother with bronzer, though as i'll hopefully be sporting a tan soon, this is perfect for adding an extra bit of glow. Laguna is the perfect shade, not too orange or muddy, with just the slightest hint of shimmer.

3. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat
This Sebo Regulating moisturizer is perfect for the warmer climate as it leaves a matte base whilst helping to control shine.

4. Bioderma Photoderm AKN Mat SPF 30
Despite not having very oily skin I hate how heavy and greasy some facial sunscreens can be. The Bioderma mattifying Fluid, though not truly matte, doesn't leave my skin looking shiny, and is also water resistant which is perfect for the beach.

5. Mini Bioderma Sensibo H20 Micelle Solution
I have a big bottle of this but I couldn't resist purchasing the really cute mini bottle for traveling! It's my favorite make-up remover and can be used for both face and eyes so I don't need to worry about packing anything else.

6. Evian Facial Spray
So this probably isn't an essential, but it's nice to use when the heat gets a bit too much. I usually keep it on hand for a refreshing and cool mist now and again.

Have you been or are going on holiday this year? What are your essentials?
