♡ Summer Nail Polish Picks

July 28, 2013

I'm sure I've mentioned before that I tend to prefer neutral and pastel nails over bright and colourful, apart from in summer when I feel brave enough to venture into the (slightly) more bright and colourful realm of nail polish. Due to the recent heatwave there's been quite a few polishes that I've been loving which are perfect for the summer months.

1. Essie Fiji
My all time favorite nail polish, and if i'm perfectly honest, i do wear this shade all year round - though it does look particular good in summer when paired with a tan.

2. Essie Tart Deco
This bright coral is one of my favorite colours to wear on my toes in summer and just like fiji, it tends to compliment a tan.

3. Essie Mint Candy Apple
I love mint nails and though I usually opt for a more pastel shade such as Essie's Absolutely shore, I've recently been loving this brighter version.

4. Essie Go Ginza
This shade appeared in my Spring Picks but I think it's great for summer too - it looks lovely with white dresses and is perfect for when you want something colourful yet also elegant.

5. Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Enamel  in (25) Melon
This one is quite similar to Essie's Tart Deco but has more of an orange, rather than pink undertone. The formula of this is also amazing, the wide brush makes application super easy and the gel finish looks really professional.

6. BarryM Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Lychee
Another shade that can be worn all year round, but there's something about the simplicity of it that just reminds me of summer. And of course, it compliments a tan.

What are your favorite polishes for summer?

♡ New In : Fifi Lapin iphone case

July 22, 2013

I've become quite obsessed recently with my new Fifi Lapin iPhone 5 case from Iconemesis. I've always wanted a Fifi Lapin designed case so I was really excited to find out that Iconemesis had started to sell iPhone 5 cases as well as those for the iPhone 4. There are so many lovely designs to choose from I couldn't quite decide and ended up changing my mind after i'd placed the order. Fortunately the customer service at Iconemesis was great and they amended my order before it was dispatched.

I'm so happy with my final choice, it's just so pretty I can't stop staring at it!! The quality is also pretty good, apart from a mold line on the side of the case (it looks like a small crack but upon close inspection by Richard has been declared a 'mold line') it fits great and seems pretty durable. I also love how subtle the Iconemesis branding is on the back of the case as it doesn't affect the beauty of the design.

The iPhone 5 cases retail for £24.99 and the iPhone 4 cases for £19.99, though they also offer free delivery to the UK. When I bought mine they also had  a 20% off code available so if your thinking of buying one, be sure to look out for offers.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Fifi Lapin?

♡ Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

July 19, 2013

Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation has been receiving a lot of attention recently from the beauty community, and after owning and loving a bottle of the stuff for just over two months I can definitely see why. It has become the foundation I reach for almost everyday, so with nothing but good things to say, sit tight and prepare for what I can only describe as an essay of praise!

First off, the Luminous Silk Foundation is available in a wide range of shades and for once I actually managed to find one pale enough (shade 2) to match my skin tone perfectly, hallelujah! Colour match a success, I was willing the foundation itself to be great, and it most definitely did not let me down. The coverage is very buildable, from sheer to medium without ever looking 'cakey'. The finish being somewhere inbelween matte and dewy, it is something I can only describe as 'skin-like' - extremely natural and hardly detectable, even when faced with a magnifying mirror and direct sunlight. And best of all, it pretty much stays looking perfect all day. Even in the recent heatwave this foundation hasn't let me down. With a bit of help from a setting spray and the occasional touch up of powder, this stuff stays in place and remains looking pretty natural too. It also doesn't contain  SPF which I personally find a bonus as it means it's suitable for photography yet when SPF is needed you can just add some sunscreen underneath. Oh, and let me just throw in that it has a pump dispenser, which if you've ever fallen for a foundation without a pump or squeezy tube before, you'll know just how enjoyable it is to have the luxury of a mess free pump!

So rant over, I think it's safe to say that this is without a doubt, the best foundation
I have tried so far (and I do not say that lightly!). Available for £34.50 a bottle it's not the most affordable foundation, but for something you put on your face everyday, it's definitely worth every penny.

♡ New In : Fresh Pages

July 12, 2013

For stationary geeks like me there's always something exciting about starting a new notebook, almost like a fresh start. I recently bought this Ted Baker notebook at a local gift shop as it's perfect for keeping by my side so that I can make lists until my hearts content. I love the birds on the inside cover and the gold detail as pretty details like this seem to make it all the more enjoyable to use. Hopefully it will help me stay organised too!

I'm not usually one for bright nail polish but as the suns been shining recently I decided to buy Essie's Sunday Fun Day which is part of their new collection. It's a gorgeous bright coral, which reminds me a lot of Essie's cute as a button, though this has some subtle silver shimmer running through it. The consistency is quite nice, I found it opaque in two coats, and the wear time was pretty similar to other Essie polishes, around 3-4 days on me. It's a great colour for both the fingers and toes and the perfect shade for injecting a bit of colour into summer outfits.

♡ Kiehl's Creme de Corps

July 08, 2013

I've recently fallen head over heels for the yumminess that is Kiehl's Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter. Despite believing it to be more suited to the colder winter months as a dry skin 'pick me up', after receiving a tub for my birthday (way back in April), I've found it to be the perfect moisturizer even in the middle of a heat wave!

After reluctantly stripping bare my pale legs and arms in an attempt to stay relatively cool in the recent heat, Kiehl's Creme de Corps Body Butter has worked miracles in making sure my skin is hydrated, soft and smooth. Best of all, I've found that rather than leaving my skin feeling a bit sticky after moisturizing like many creams seem to do when it's hot, this stuff sinks right into the skin, absorbing almost immediately.

I also can't forget to mention how delicious this smells. A concoction of milk, honey and coconut that had both the boyfriend and my mum commenting on how lovely I smelt only minutes after application. It seems the only down side is the hefty price tag. At £36 for 250ml it's not particularly purse friendly, though for a bit of a treat or something to add to the birthday or Christmas list, i'd definitely recommend it.

♡ June Favorites

July 05, 2013

June has been such a hectic month that I've mainly been reaching for the same products everyday as it requires little brain effort, though there has been a few new additions.

1. Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
For years I've used Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion without much of a second thought, though recently I've noticed that it isn't quite living up to expectations. By lunch time I was sporting some very unattractive creases and smudging, so declaring enough was enough, I made the trip to Space NK to purchase Nars' Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base in the hope it would keep my eyeshadow in place. Now, unfortuately this is by no means a miricle worker, I still find a little bit of creasing in the very inner crease of my eye after a few hours, but that being said, I've noticed a huge improvement. My eyeshadow stays in place all day without smudging and the colour doesn't fade. It is pretty pricey at £19 but a little goes a long way and I can see this lasting a long time.

2. Mac Mineralize Blush in Dainty
I've been sweeping this over my cheeks recently for an instant flush of pink. As it is quite shimmery I don't need to use a highlighter which is perfect for days when  i'm in a rush but still want a bit of a glow.

3. Alpha H Absolute Eye Complex
As you can probably tell by the faded packaging, this has been getting a lot of use lately. It refreshes and hydrates the under eye area and creates the perfect base for under eye concealer. It works particularly well when kept in the fridge, for the ultimate cooling experience!

4. Mac Lipglass in Pink Lemonade
I'm not really a fan of lipgloss, and Mac's in particular is a sticky lipgloss haters worst nightmare, though there is something about this colour that makes it bearable. It's the perfect pinky-coral for summer and I can imagine it looks gorgeous with a tan.

5. & Other Stories Nail Polish in Mousseline Apricot
This colour is absolutely gorgeous. As the name suggests it's a apricot colour with gold shimmer running through it. It can be worn alone, though as it is really sheer I prefer layering it over the top of other polishes for a beautiful shimmery finish. For only £5 it's pretty affordable too.
