The Casual Outfit

October 30, 2012

There seems to be such little sunshine at the moment that every little ray is precious. When the sun is out and the sky is clear I really love just being out in the fresh air.

I'm really looking forward to Christmas, but I will definitely miss the chance to enjoy the evening sun - it seems to be getting dark so early now.

This is just a really comfy and casual outfit I was wearing whilst out walking a few days ago...

Chanel Emerveille Eyeshadow

October 25, 2012

On the way back from my holiday a few weeks ago (though it feels more like months), i treated myself to Chanel illusion d'ombre in emerveille, and i'm so glad i did. Though it comes with a high price tag (£23), it does not disappoint.

The texture of the eye shadow is something i haven't come across before. Despite appearing quite similar to a cream eye shadow, it's actually much more 'fluffy' and almost bouncy. The results however, are wonderful. It's long wearing and nicely pigmented with buildable coverage. It's also easy to blend and hardly creases throughout the day, even without a primer.

Despite appearing rather 'orange' in the pot, when applied Emerveille is a stunning nude champagne colour with a hint of peach. There is also some very subtle and fine glitter that can be seen in bright light or sunshine (the camera definitely does not do it justice!).
I've found it an extremely versatile shade that can be used all over the lid for a natural but polished look, as a base for other eye shadows, or as a inner corner highlight.
The brush included is also a nice touch and very handbag friendly for 'on-the-go' touch-ups. However, i do find that in the morning i prefer to use my fingers to apply the shadow as it gives the most even and natural finish.

Overall, Emerveille is the perfect 'all over the lid' shade which i have used every single day since i brought it home. For the time being it has replaced every other eye shadow i own, mainly because it's quick and easy to use, and most importantly, absolutely beautiful.

Today's Outfit

October 19, 2012

Recently I've been obsessed with peter pan collars. They're so soft and girly and a really easy way to add a little more detail to outfits. Though i'm not sure that justifies an entire wardrobe full of them?!

I'm also loving my Blazer at the moment. It's the perfect jacket for the transitional weather - not too heavy but adds just enough extra warmth. I also really like how it smartens up casual outfits without hardly any effort, which is great for those mornings when you're in a bit of a rush.

Mini Topshop Spree

October 18, 2012

I was browsing the rails at Topshop whilst waiting for a friend the other day and stumbled across a few little gems that I just couldn't resist.

The first thing I found was this gold studded bracelet which matches my gold watch and locket perfectly. I really like the extra pop of gold it gives my outfits.
The collared lace top was also exactly what I was looking for. It's great as a layering piece under my winter jumpers, so for only £16 I snapped it up.
Last of all I found this gorgeous Topshop nail varnish in the colour solar. It's a gorgeous gold and purple/pink duo-chrome which is the perfect colour for autumn.

This is actually my first Topshop nail varnish and i'm really impressed with the quality considering it was only £6. It applies beautifully, only requires two coats and drys relatively quickly. Due to my general lack of patience, that sort of seals the deal for me. As an added bonus it lasts a good 3 days before chipping (I'm also rather hard on my nails so it might last longer on others) and, as far as nail polish goes, is pretty good looking with the cute polka-dot packaging.

On a side note...I couldn't resist including these adorable owl slippers from New Look...

Faced with a whole house full of cold wooden floors, these two little guys have become my new best friends - and i'm pretty sure they're going to become my most worn shoes this winter!

Korres Mango Lip Butter

October 12, 2012

Over the last few weeks i have fallen in love with Korres lip butter in the shade mango. Not only does it leave my lips feeling silky and smooth but also adds a wash of colour and shine. It doesn't leave your lips feeling dry once it's worn off either (one of my pet peeves with lip balm). I'm also a huge fan of the sweet mango scent which though detectable, is not overpowering. It definitely adds to the overall yummy-ness of the product!

The lip butters also come in several different shades (with corresponding scents) including guava, jasmine, pomegranate, wild rose and quince. As a 'natural' brand Korres also avoids using silicone, propylene glycol and ethanolamine in their products which is another added bonus, especially if you use as much lip balm as i do on a daily basis! For around £7 each they're not the most affordable lip butter on the market but definitely worth the investment if you're on the lookout for a good all-round lip balm. I'm already waiting for the arrival of my next one in the post...

I ♥ lazy days

October 04, 2012

Sometimes there's nothing better in life than a good book, hot drink and time to unwind. Sunday evenings are my favorite part of the weekend. After a busy week (and usually a busy shopping filled Saturday!), i love to spend the last part of my weekend relaxing before everything starts all over again. With the cold weather creeping in, i'm especially loving lighting a few candles and indulging in a mug or two of hot chocolate...

Comfy Clothes; over-sized cream jumper and jeggings

Hot chocolate and fairy cake =
As much as i savor every last part of summer, there is something exciting about the arrival of autumn. Making my room cosy and snuggling up to a book has definitely become one of my favorite winter routines and I’m enjoying being able to indulge again. Not long until the ‘C’ word now… (that’s Christmas - in case you were wondering!).

Topshop Lipstick in Whimsical

October 02, 2012

Topshop lipstick in whimsical

I'm always on the hunt for the perfect coral lipstick and recently Topshop's whimsical lipstick has come pretty close. Described on the website as a 'pinky nude', i find that on me, it appears much more of a muted coral.

Despite being a matte finish, the lipstick glides on smoothly and feels hydrating on the lips, creating more of a velvet (rather than matte) finish. Even without lip balm i find it quite comfortable to wear, which, considering the matte/velvet formula and my addiction to lip balm, is quite something.
The staying power has also proved rather wonderful, and unlike many of my lipsticks does not seem to disappear as soon as i walk out of the door (i seem incapable of keeping lipsticks on!).
Like all Topshop make-up the packaging is lovely and adds to the overall high quality of the lipstick. For only £8 whimsical has made me very happy indeed and has left me with a delightful urge to delve further into Topshop make-up and what it has to offer...
